Man Killed, Alyssa Brown and Anthony Burgan Injured in Head-On Accident in Grass Valley

 
GRASS VALLEY, CA (October 6, 2022) – A 47-year-old Grass Valley man died in a car accident on Highway 20 on Sunday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on October 2 at about 10:20 p.m. A westbound 2004 Oldsmobile Alero was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed near Slacks Ravine.
 
A short time later, the Oldsmobile crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
 
Medical responders pronounced the driver of the Oldsmobile dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the Jeep, identified as 35-year-old Anthony Burgan of Smartsville, to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
 
As per reports, Burgan’s passenger, identified as 25-year-old Alyssa Brown of Yuba City, was transported to Adventist Health/Rideout Hospital in Marysville with major injuries.
 
CHP believes that impairment played a role in the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
