Two Vehicles Collide on Garey Avenue in Pomona Killing One Driver

 
POMONA, CA (April 11, 2023) – Angel Cortes was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Pomona early Sunday morning on April 9.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:51 a.m. on Garey Avenue at the westbound 60 Freeway. According to the CHP, two vehicles collided for unknown reasons.
 
Los Angeles County Fire Department crews found both drivers who were trapped in the wreckage.
 
Cortes suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 26 years old from Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
 
The other driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
 
Officers issued a SigAlert, closuring all westbound lanes of the freeway for several hours while they investigated the crash.
