Andres Gutierrez Killed in Head-On Accident on E Street [Chula Vista, CA]

Head-On Crash in Chula Vista Kills 58-Year-Old Driver

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (May 31, 2023) – Andres Montante Gutierrez was killed in a head-on crash in Chula Vista Wednesday morning last week on May 24.
 
The crash happened around 6:00 a.m. in the 700 block of E Street. According to the Chula Vista Police Department, Gutierez was driving a Honda sedan westbound on E Street at a high rate of speed when he veered into a left turn lane and struck a stopped Nissan sedan head-on.
 
The Nissan was in the left-turn lane waiting to pull into a McDonald’s parking lot when the crash occurred.
 
First responders found Gutierrez unconscious inside his car. They attempted life-saving measures, but Gutierrez died at the scene. His cause of death was blunt force trauma to the torso.
 
Gutierrez was 58 years old, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner.
 
The other driver, a woman in her 60s, was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution.
 
This fatal crash is still under investigation.
