28-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Car on 10 Freeway near Hargrave Street

 
BANNING, CA (February 1, 2023)Alyssa Phelps was killed in a pedestrian Accident in Banning Monday night on January 30.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:20 p.m. along the eastbound 10 Freeway, less than a mile east of Hargrave Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, Phelps was initially walking along the shoulder of the freeway, facing traffic, prompting 911 calls from motorists fearing for her safety.
 
For unknown reasons, Phelps apparently stepped into the slow lane where a red Honda struck her. The driver of the Honda immediately stopped after the crash.
 
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Phelps dead at the scene.
 
Phelps was a 28-year-old resident of the city.
