Head-On Car Accident in Modesto Kills Drivers Oscar Garcia, Abraham Farias

MODESTO, CA (March 3, 2022) – Two men were killed in a head-on car accident on West Main Avenue in Modesto on Monday, February 28.

The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Abraham Farias of Turlock and 45-year-old Oscar Armando Garcia of Patterson, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s office.

The accident happened around 5:45 a.m. just west of Carpenter Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Farias was driving a 2016 Subaru SUV westbound on Main Street and Garcia was driving a 2006 Honda sedan eastbound on Main Street.

According to the CHP, Farias drove the Subaru into the eastbound lane to pass traffic ahead of him. After that, he collided head-on with the Honda.

The force of the impact caused the Subaru to overturn and come to a rest on its wheels on the south road edge. Immediately following the impact, the Subaru became engulfed in flames while the Honda came to a stop in the eastbound lane.

Both drivers – Garcia and Farias – died at the scene. However, both wore their seat belts, according to police. Family set up a GoFundMe for Farias.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. However, further investigation is underway.

We send our deepest condolences to the loved ones and friends of Oscar Armando Garcia and Abraham Farias.
