Elderly Woman Dies after Crashing into Pickup Truck on Highway 58 in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 31, 2024) – An 85-year-old Lake Isabella woman was killed in a traffic accident on Highway 58 in Bakersfield on Thursday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:19 p.m. on March 28, just west of Washington Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2018 Kia Sorrento when she veered off the westbound highway and crashed into the back of a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck that was stopped on the shoulder.
 
The impact caused the woman fatal injuries and she died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Ford pickup, 62-year-old Robert Halliwill, sustained minor injuries.
 
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash, which is still under investigation.
