Man Dies after Struck by SUV while Riding His Bicycle on Herndon Avenue in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (May 25, 2022) – A 74-year-old man was killed in a bicycle accident at Herndon Avenue and Blackstone Avenue in North Fresno on Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 5:30 a.m. on May 24. According to the Fresno Police Department, the man was crossing south on Blackstone in the crosswalk when a driver in a silver SUV struck him.
 
Officers arrived and found the man suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where the victim later died.
 
The identity of the bicyclist was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
Police are still working to determine what led up to the crash. They said the driver was cooperating with the investigation.
 
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
