Rollover Crash on Highway 101 in San Martin Kills Driver and Seriously Injures Passenger

 
SAN MARTIN, CA (April 9, 2023) – A 72-year-old man was killed in a rollover accident on Highway 101 in San Martin Thursday morning on April 6.
 
The accident happened around 11:54 a.m. near East Middle Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2000 Lexus compact SUV was heading south in the far left lane when it veered out of control onto the median. It then overturned, hit the guardrail and ended up on the median next to the northbound lanes.
 
As a result, the elderly man driving the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 73-year-old woman, suffered major injuries and was taken to a San Jose hospital. Both were from Del Rey Oaks, near Monterey.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with further information is asked to call the CHP’s Hollister-Gilroy area office at 408-427-0700.
