Toddler Among Hospitalized in DUI Car Crash on Qualcomm Way in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 26, 2023) — A 3-year-old was among several children injured in a DUI rollover accident on the Qualcomm Way on-ramp to the 8 Freeway.

According to a California Highway Patrol news release, the single-car crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. For an unknown reason, a 26-year-old man driving a green Ford Expedition lost control of the vehicle. Subsequently, the car rolled over and ejected a 3-year-old child from the car.

In addition to the toddler, four other juveniles suffered injuries.

Shortly after, First Responders rushed the 3-year-old to Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego for treatment of major injuries. Officers later determined that DUI played a part in the accident and arrested the driver.

If anyone has more information on the single-car crash, please call the San Diego area office at 858-293-6000.

Do not drive if you have been drinking. Alcohol and drugs mess with your concentration, response rate and judgment. You need to be alert when driving. Instead of driving home and increasing the risk of an accident, schedule a Rideshare service.
