3 People Dead in Head-On Crash on Highway 33 in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (May 3, 2022) — Three people died in a head-on crash on Highway 33 near Sutter Avenue on Monday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 2:43 p.m. Under unclear circumstances, a Dodge Caravan and a Dodge Ram pickup collided.

As a result of the impact, the Dodge Ram ruptured into flames.

Due to the nature of the crash, the two occupants of the Dodge Caravan — described as a woman and a juvenile — suffered fatal injuries. In addition, the driver of the Dodge Ram also died.

At this time, officers believe either distracted driving or someone trying to pass up the other driver contributed to the accident. However, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash should confirm any unclear details.
