Police Arrest Robert Pimentel for DUI after Head-On Crash in Los Banos Killing Three People

 
LOS BANOS, CA (October 15, 2023) – Three people, including a baby, were killed in a DUI crash on Highway 140 in Los Banos Friday evening on October 13.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Robert Pimentel was driving a Ford Explorer east on Highway 140 when he drifted off the roadway. He tried correcting himself but crossed the yellow line, hitting a Ford Expedition head-on with seven people inside.
 
As a result of the crash, the 67-year-old driver of the Expedition, a 69-year-old passenger and a three-month-old baby all suffered fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Pimentel and the other four passengers of the Expedition were taken to a nearby hospital with moderate to major injuries.
 
Officers later arrested Pimentel for driving under the influence.
 
An investigation into this crash is underway.
