3 Hurt in Bakersfield Big Rig Crash on 5 Freeway

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 10, 2021) — Three people were injured in a big rig accident on the 5 Freeway near Lebec Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:44 a.m. The driver of the big rig reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. However, the 21-year-old man from Fresno woke up and quickly grabbed the wheel yet overcorrected. As a result, the semi-truck overturned on the freeway.
 
Meanwhile, a Dodge pickup truck, driven by a 30-year-old man from Delano and occupied by a 29-year-old passenger from Bakersfield, was unable to avoid the crash.
 
As a result, all three sustained moderate non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, the crash remains under investigation. If anyone has additional insight into this crash, please contact the CHP.
