2 Workers Hit, Killed After Box Truck Crashes Down Embankment on Highway 71 in Chino

 
CHINO, CA (May 7, 2024) — Two workers died after being struck when a box truck crashed on Highway 71 near Euclid Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident happened Monday morning. For an unknown reason, a driver of a box truck crossed into the slow lane and sideswiped a cleaner crew van parked on the side road. Subsequently, the work van struck two workers cleaning the roadside while the box truck careered down an embankment.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced a 54-year-old man — one of the workers — deceased at the scene. Paramedics immediately took the 36-year-old second worker to a hospital with major injuries. However, he died later at the hospital. Another worker sitting in the work van suffered minor injuries.
 
Authorities have not yet determined the ultimate cause but have ruled out impairment as a contributing source. However, if anyone has more to add to this accident, please call the local authorities.
