Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 237 in Sunnyvale Kills Two Drivers

 
SUNNYVALE, CA (April 25, 2023) – Two people were killed in a wrong-way accident on Highway 237 in Sunnyvale early Sunday morning on April 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:00 a.m. near Mathilda Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver 2021 Honda Civic was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway when it crashed into a red 2017 Honda Civic.
 
As a result of the crash, both drivers suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Authorities described the wrong-way driver as a Hispanic man in his mid 20s to early 30s. The other driver was a white male, also in his mid 20s to early 30s.
 
There were no additional passengers in both vehicles.
 
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway. Witnesses can reach CHP officials at 408-961-0900.
