2 Injured in Wrong-Way Accident on 8 Freeway [San Diego, CA]

Serious Injuries Reported after Wrong-Way Accident on 8 Freeway near Taylor Street

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 27, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in a wrong-way accident on 8 Freeway, early Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 26, at about 2:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a black BMW sedan and a silver Honda sedan collided head-on near Taylor Street.
 
Emergency responders extricated the driver of the Honda from the wrecked vehicle. Then, an ambulance transported the driver to a trauma center for treatment of serious injuries. Meanwhile, the BMW driver sustained minor injuries. However, it is unknown whether the driver needed hospitalization.
 
CHP is investigating the incident as a DUI. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
