WHITTIER, CA (December 1, 2023) — Two people suffered minor injuries after a dump truck overturned in an accident and spilled dirt onto the 605 Freeway near Whittier Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident happened around 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
 
For an unknown reason, a dump truck carrying dirt crashed into a pickup truck entering the freeway. Subsequently, the truck overturned, spilling dirt onto the freeway lanes and tying up traffic.
 
As a result of the crash, the two drivers suffered minor injuries and required hospitalization.
 
Following the accident, crews hauled off some of the dirt, allowing traffic to get through. While one lane remained open on the northbound 605 Freeway, two lanes remained closed on the southbound side.
