2 Drivers Hospitalized in Big Rig Accident near 7th Standard Road in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 6, 2023) — Two drivers suffered moderate to major injuries in a big rig accident near 7th Standard Road and Scaroni Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision happened around 1:05 p.m. Wednesday.
 
For unknown reasons, one of the drivers veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the other. As a result, one vehicle, described as a big rig, crashed into a large PG&E Tower with high-voltage lines.
 
Following the crash, paramedics arrived at the scene and brought the big rig driver to a hospital with major injuries and the second driver to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
 
Due to the damage, authorities had to turn off the power and close the area to clear the road.
