SUTTER COUNTY, CA (April 27, 2023) — Two people died, and two were injured in a 3-car accident on Highway 20 near Wyncoop Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-vehicle crash happened around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, an 88-year-old man driving a westbound Jeep Wrangler veered into the eastbound lanes and sideswiped an eastbound Mercedes C300.

The Jeep subsequently struck a Lincoln MKT traveling behind the Mercedes-Benz.

As a result of the crash, the Jeep driver suffered fatal injuries, and the Lincoln driver, described as a 63-year-old woman, later died at Adventist Health and Rideout.

Her 66-year-old male passenger suffered major injuries and received care at UC Davis Medical Center. As for the 40-year-old woman driving the Mercedes, which veered off the road and struck a fence, she sustained minor wounds and expressed discomfort.

Following an investigation, officers ruled out alcohol and drugs as possible factors. However, they are looking into what might have caused this accident.
