DUI Accident at Etiwanta and Santa Ana Avvenues in Fontana Sends Two Children to Hospital

FONTANA, CA (May 7, 2022) – Two children were injured in a DUI accident on Etiwanda Avenue in Fontana Saturday evening last week.

The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. on April 30 at the intersection with Santa Ana Avenue. According to the Fontana Police Department, a gray Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Etiwanda when it drove into the northbound oncoming lanes of traffic. It then struck a northbound vehicle as it was stopped at the red light at Santa Ana.

The driver of the Toyota got out of the vehicle and allegedly began throwing empty beer cans onto the side of the road before authorities arrived.

Arriving officers found two children inside the Toyota, ages 1 and 3. Both children were in car seats but not properly attached in the seats. The children were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The passengers in the other vehicle refused medical attention at the scene.

Police arrested the driver of the Toyota for DUI and child endangerment.

An investigation into this crash is still ongoing.
