Zach Wilhelm Dies, Three Hurt in Novato Solo-Car Crash into Tree

 
NOVATO, CA (February 22, 2022) — One of the four teens injured after their car crashed into a tree on Novato Boulevard on February 19 has died.
 
Officials identified the young victim as 17-year-old Zach Wilhelm, who died at a hospital on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, Wilhelm was one of four youths in a car that crashed into a tree Saturday night along Novato Boulevard near Stafford Lake around 10:45 p.m. The 2005 Honda Pilot traveled west when the driver veered left and crashed into the tree, according to CHP.
 
Officials hospitalized Wilhelm and another passenger with major head injuries, where he later died. A GoFundMe is set up for the family of Wilhelm to assist with expenses.
 
The driver suffered minor injuries while the third passenger suffered a possible broken elbow, according to the California Highway Patrol.
 
The CHP continue to investigate why the driver went off the road. The initial investigation did not find impairment to be a factor in the incident.
