16-Year-Old Bruce Smith Struck, Killed by Driver While on Scooter on Palmdale Boulevard near 80th Street

 
PALMDALE, CA (March 7, 2023) — Bruce Smith, the teen hit by a car while riding his scooter on Palmdale Boulevard near 80th Street, died Sunday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly scooter crash happened around 6:36 p.m. Sunday. Under unclear circumstances, Smith, of Palmdale, was heading home with a friend from Littlerock after they had missed their bus. On his way home, 16-year-old Smith was reportedly riding his scooter against traffic on Palmdale Boulevard when a westbound Toyota RAV4 slammed into him.
 
Shortly after, paramedics arrived and found the car with windshield and hood damage and the scooter on the street. Emergency personnel rushed the teen to Antelope Valley Hospital where he passed away at 7:19 p.m.
