Teen Suffers Critical Injuries after Hit by Car on Brimhall Road in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 21, 2023) – A 13-year-old boy was critically injured in a pedestrian accident on Brimhall Road in Bakersfield Thursday afternoon on August 17.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. at Jewetta Avenue near Liberty Park. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the juvenile was crossing Brimhall Road when he was struck by a dark-colored hatchback traveling westbound. The pedestrian crossed against a do not walk signal.
 
Paramedics arrived and took the boy to a hospital in critical condition.
 
The hatchback sustained major damage to its windshield.
 
The driver of the car remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
Speed, alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash. An investigation is underway.
