Early Morning Two-Car Crash on 805 Freeway in Serra Mesa Traps One Person and Sends Another to Hospital

 
SERRA MESA, CA (January 4, 2023) – One person was trapped and another was hospitalized after a two-car accident on 805 Freeway in Serra Mesa early Friday morning.
 
The accident happened around 3:53 a.m. on December 30, Mesa College Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Nissan Ultima and another car collided along the southbound freeway. One of them was already broken down on the shoulder when it was hit by the other car.
 
The San Diego Fire Department crews arrived to find two people waiting on the freeway’s right shoulder, and one person trapped in their car. They extricated the trapped occupant, who was then transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
 
A second person was also taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
