1 Person Airlifted Following Fiery Semi-Truck Crash on 210 Freeway in Azusa

AZUSA, CA (January 5, 2023) — One person was injured in a fiery big rig accident on the 210 Freeway near Citrus Avenue.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the two-vehicle crash happened Wednesday morning. For an unknown reason, a driver crashed into a big rig, wedging the vehicle underneath the trailer before it caught on fire.

Shortly after, authorities responded and contacted a helicopter to airlift the driver of the car to a hospital in an unknown condition.

Due to the crash, authorities blocked two freeway lanes as crews worked to investigate the scene. If anyone has information on what could have led to this accident, please call the California Highway Patrol.

When navigating around larger vehicles like big rigs, make room. Some truck drivers are not able to see smaller coupes and sedans on the highway. To increase your safety, use your blinkers and switch lanes with enough room in front of these larger trucks.
