Pedestrian Dead, 2 Injured, Driver Crashes Onto Sidewalk, Building on Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 13, 2023) — A pedestrian died, and two others were injured after a car crashed onto a sidewalk and a bank on Pico Boulevard near La Cienega Boulevard.
 
According to reports, the deadly accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on June 7. For unknown reasons, a driver in a black Hyundai sedan lost control. As a result, the Hyundai jumped the curb, careered onto the sidewalk and struck three victims before crashing into a Chase Bank building.
 
The three pedestrians, a family, suffered serious injuries, including a 48-year-old woman with critical injuries. One of them — a 19-year-old male — was brought to a hospital in fair condition but the 51-year-old man died at the hospital.
 
The driver of a vehicle, described as an adult male, also received treatment by paramedics but declined hospital transport.
 
According to surveillance footage, the Hyundai, heading eastbound on Pico Boulevard, swerved to avoid traffic but lost control.
 
Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident, but they are looking into the details and ultimate explanation for the accident.
