69-Year-Old Woman Killed, David Ramirez and Monica Gonitz Injured in Moss Landing Car Crash

 
MOSS LANDING, CA (May 10, 2022) – A 69-year-old woman was killed in a car crash on Highway 1 on Saturday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on May 7 at about 5:00 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a northbound 2019 Mazda 6 entered the southbound lane.
 
Then, the Mazda collided with a southbound 2005 Toyota Corolla near Potrero Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the Toyota dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the Mazda driver, 31-year-old Monica Gonitz, and her passenger, 32-year-old David Ramirez, suffered minor injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
