Gonzalo Cazarin Arrested, One Hurt in Pursuit Collision on Highway 198 at 11th Avenue

 
HANFORD, CA (May 10, 2022) — Officials arrested Gonzalo Cazarin following a police chase collision on Friday, May 6.
 
According to the Hanford Police Department, at 7:21 a.m., an officer observed 32-year-old Cazarin in the area of Harris Street and Eighth Street. Cazarin had allegedly been involved in a recent stolen car case and was wanted by Hanford Police.
 
When the officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, Cazarin took off at a high rate of speed through town. He disregarded all traffic signals and stop signs. Then, he continued onto Highway 198 before he made a U-turn into oncoming traffic in his effort to escape police.
 
The pursuing officers stopped the chase due to the reckless driving by Cazarin. Then minutes later, the suspect got involved in a head-on crash on Highway 198 at 11th Avenue. The other driver sustained injuries in the crash and Cazarin fled from his vehicle on foot.
 
Officers from Hanford Police searched the vicinity and located Cazarin in the Home Gardens neighborhood. They arrested him on a felony evasion charge as well as assault with a deadly weapon on officers.
