1 Dead, Suspect Sought in Car Crash on 805 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 4, 2023) — One person died in an overturned accident on the 805 Freeway near 43rd Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly car crash happened around 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Around this time, a 75-year-old man driving a 1993 Nissan pickup reportedly lost control after a tow truck hauling a mini excavator swung back and forth. The vehicle subsequently traveled down a dirt embankment and overturned before hitting a light pole.
 
Two occupants in the Nissan, not seat belted, were ejected onto the road. One died at the scene and the other received care at Mercy Hospital for major injuries.
 
Authorities need witnesses’ help with locating the commercial vehicle that might have made contact with this car. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 858-293-6000.
