Afternoon Car Accident on 80 Freeway in El Sobrante Kills 1 and Leaves Another with Serious Injuries

 
EL SOBRANTE, CA (May 24, 2021) – One person was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a car accident on 80 Freeway in El Sobrante.
 
The accident happened around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22 near the Hilltop Drive off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray sedan was traveling eastbound when it careened off the freeway and crashed down an embankment.
 
As a result, one occupant suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Another person was seriously injured.
 
Authorities did not release the identities of those involved. They also do not have information whether the passenger or driver had died.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
