1 Dead, 1 Hurt in Motorcycle, Car Accident on Merle Haggard Drive in Oildale

 
OILDALE, CA (January 8, 2024) — One person died after a car and a motorcycle crashed on Merle Haggard Drive and McCray Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle accident happened on January 4 around 8:20 p.m. For an unknown reason, a northbound motorcycle rider ran a red traffic light. Subsequently, the motorcyclist T-boned a westbound Dodge at the intersection that drove through a green traffic light. Upon impact, the motorcycle rider flew off the bike and landed on the road while the Dodge struck a light pole.
 
Shortly after, paramedics arrived and took the Dodge driver to a hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries. As for the rider, he or she passed away in the accident. The Kern County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the person’s name.
