BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 22, 2022) – A passenger was hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident on California Avenue on Friday evening.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident happened on June 17 at about 7:38 p.m. A marked BPD vehicle was responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens on.
 
As the officer slowed down at the intersection, another vehicle hit the BPD cruiser near Stockdale Highway.
 
Emergency crews rendered aid to the officer, who later refused hospitalization. Meanwhile, responders transported a passenger in the second vehicle to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The Major Collision Investigation Team continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
