1 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on 805 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 27, 2023) — One person died in a wrong-way accident on the 805 Freeway near San Ysidro Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened Wednesday around 11:55 a.m. For an unknown reason, an unidentified 29-year-old San Diego man was driving an Audi sedan northbound in the southbound lanes. Not long after, the Audi collided with a Honda minivan in the second lane.
 
Tragically, the minivan driver perished in the accident.
 
First Responders arrived at the scene and shuttled the Audi driver to a hospital with major, non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the crash, CHP officers closed several lanes to investigate.
 
At this time, officials do not have the deceased man’s name or the events and factors leading to the accident. However, if anyone has additional knowledge on this collision, please call the CHP.
