Fatal Multi-Car Crash on Byron Highway in Byron

 
BYRON, CA (January 2, 2024) — One person died in a 4-car accident on Byron Highway near Camino Diablo.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-car accident happened near Byron Airport around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Under unclear circumstances, four vehicles collided, including one that crossed the center median on the two-lane corridor.
 
Shortly after, Contra Costa County Fire officers responded to the scene and airlifted one patient to a hospital and transported the other victim by ground ambulance. Tragically, one person passed away from his or her injuries in the crash. Authorities learned that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt properly.
