Silvestre Romo and Guadalupe Pina Killed in ATV Accident on Santa Fe Grade [Firebaugh, CA]

Quad Crashes into Parked Trailer in Firebaugh Killing Man and Woman

 
FIREBAUGH, CA (September 3, 2024) – Silvestre Sandoval Romo and Guadalupe Ruiz Pina were killed in an ATV accident in Firebaugh Saturday morning on August 31.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on Santa Fe Grade near West Shaw Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victims were riding a 2023 Yamaha Raptor Quad south on Santa Fe Grade at a high rate of speed and were approaching a parked trailer.
 
Romo, the 24-year-old driver from Mendota, did not slow down and crashed into the trailer.
 
As a result of the crash, both Romo and Pina died at the scene, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
Pina was the 23-year-old passenger from Firebaugh.
 
Both were not wearing any helmets.
 
It was unclear if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
