Passenger Dies after Red Light Runner Crashes into Their Car on Avenue J-8 in Lancaster

 
LANCASTER, CA (March 18, 2024) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident at Avenue J-8 and 20th Street East in Lancaster on Saturday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:42 a.m. on March 16. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster Station, a woman was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander southbound on 20th Street East when she ran a red light and collided with an Infiniti G35 that was heading westbound on Avenue J-8.
 
A female passenger in the Infiniti was partially ejected from the impact. Other people in the car were trapped.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the ejected woman to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
 
Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role. Further investigation is underway.
 
Authorities urged witnesses of the crash to call traffic investigators at 661-948-8466.
