1 Killed, 4 Injured in Head-On Accident on Byron Highway [Byron, CA]

BYRON, CA (July 4, 2022) – One person died in a head-on accident on Byron Highway on Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 1, at about 5:55 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a northbound Chevrolet Traverse and a southbound Lincoln Navigator collided head-on near Mountain House Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the Chevrolet dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the two occupants of the Lincoln sustained major injuries and needed hospitalization. Responders also transported two passengers in the Chevrolet to the hospital for treatment of minor to major injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers ask witnesses to call CHP in Martinez at (925) 646-4980.
