Man Killed in Fresno Broadside Car Accident on Maple Avenue

FRESNO, CA (February 9, 2022) — A man died, and a woman suffered critical injuries in a broadside accident on Maple Avenue at Belmont Avenue on Monday morning.
 
According to Fresno police officers, the two-vehicle crash happened sometime Monday morning. For unknown reasons, a driver in a Chevy pickup ran a red light on Belmont Avenue and broadsided a northbound Toyota on Maple Avenue.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the male Toyota driver died at a hospital while his female passenger suffered critical injuries.
 
Following the accident, the 29-year-old driver of the truck left the scene. However, with the help of witnesses, police were able to apprehend him and charge him with hit-and-run and manslaughter.
