Suspected DUI Driver Hits Car on 10 Freeway Shoulder, Jose Carranza and Milagro Nieto-Campos Die

 
COLTON, CA (February 8, 2022) – Two people died in a rollover accident on the 10 Freeway in Colton, early Saturday morning.
 
Police identified the victims as 54-year-old Jose Carranza and 59-year-old Milagro Nieto-Campos. Both were residents of Pacoima.
 
The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. on February 5 near Pepper Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, both victims were seated in a Nissan Sentra that was stopped on the shoulder of the westbound 10 Freeway. At some point, a driver suspected of DUI struck the Nissan.
 
As a result, the Nissan to overturn and go down an embankment.
 
When officers arrived, they pronounced Nieto-Campos and Carranza dead at the scene. The Carranza family set up a GoFundMe.
 
All westbound lanes of the freeway were temporarily closed in the area during the clean-up.
 
At this time, it is unknown if police arrested the suspected DUI driver. However, the crash remains under investigation.
