Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Taft Highway in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 30, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Taft Highway in southwest Bakersfield early Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:50 a.m. on August 27, near Ashe Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 35-year-old male pedestrian ran into the roadway when a vehicle struck him.
 
The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release his identity once family members are properly notified.

At this time, the accident remains under investigation. The CHP says drugs or alcohol may have been a factor.
