Truck Involved in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Cypress Avenue in Redding

 
REDDING, CA (June 30, 2021) – Police confirmed that a rider died in a motorcycle crash on Cypress Avenue on June 24.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of Bechelli Lane.
 
Based on reports, the victim’s motorcycle was traveling westbound on Cypress at the time of the crash. In front of it was a Penske truck in the number one lane. Due to unknown reasons, the motorcyclist tried passing the truck in the center turn lane as the truck made a left turn into Redding Subaru.
 
Subsequently, the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the truck and became trapped under it. The truck continued driving into the parking lot, dragging the motorcycle and causing it to catch fire.
 
As a result, the 66-year-old motorcycle rider from Redding sustained major injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His identity was not immediately available.
 
At this point, this motorcycle crash on Cypress Avenue is under investigation by the Redding Police Department.
