Esther Espinoza, Maria Carrango Die after Car Plunges into Moss Landing Harbor

 
MOSS LANDING, CA (April 16, 2021) – Maria Vanessa Carrango and her passenger Ether Monique Espinoza died after their car plunged into Moss Landing Harbor.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the car was spotted upside down around 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, after the tide had receded. Beforehand, the car had been completely under water.
 
First responders extricated the 35-year-old driver and the 28-year-old passenger from the vehicle. Both sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
During the investigation, officers determined that the two women were in a 2010 Acura. The car was traveling westbound on Highway 1 at Dolan Road when it went straight through a fence and a gate. It then plunged down into the harbor.
 
Divers with the Sheriff’s office searched the surrounding area and determined that there were no other victims.
 
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
