Zachary Mitchell Dead in Traffic Crash on 5 Freeway near Adobe Road

 
RED BLUFF, CA (November 29, 2022) — 34-year-old Zachary D. Mitchell, of Medford, Oregon, died in a crash on Monday, November 28.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, Mitchell drove north on 5 Freeway at around 4:45 a.m. Monday. Then he stopped on the right shoulder south of Adobe Road and went out of his vehicle.
 
Meanwhile, a man driving a 2014 Toyota Prius approached and struck Mitchell who stood on the east shoulder of the freeway. Mitchell succumbed to his fatal injuries at the scene.
 
The CHP news release did not include why Mitchell stopped and went out of his car.
 
Officials do not believe alcohol contributed as a factor in the incident.
