Motorcyclist Dies after Struck by Multiple Vehicles in Orcutt

 
ORCUTT, CA (January 19, 2024) – Yiğit Tokbey was killed in a motorcycle accident in Orcutt Wednesday evening on January 17.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:23 p.m. on Highway 1 near Highway 135, just south of Graciosa Road. According to the CHP, Tokbey was riding his motorcycle when he lost control, veered off the roadway and became stationary in the southbound highway lane.
 
Multiple oncoming vehicles then struck him.
 
Tokbey was pronounced dead on the scene. He was a 31-year-old Lompoc resident, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. He is a Senior Launch Engineer for SpaceX that works out of the Vandenberg Space Force Base in Lompoc.
 
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
