Woman Hospitalized in Wrong-Way Crash on 10 Freeway in Chiriaco Summit

 
CHIRIACO SUMMIT, CA (October 27, 2023) — A wrong-way driver suffered major injuries in an accident on the 10 Freeway near Cottonwood Springs Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-car crash happened around 2:25 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a woman began driving in the wrong direction on the 10 Freeway near Chiriaco Summit.
 
Subsequently, she lost control of her car and crashed into the center median. Moments later, paramedics responded and took her to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries to her leg.
 
At this time, authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have factored into the crash. An investigation, however, will identify the leading cause.
