Bicyclist Suffers Major Injuries after Hit by SUV on Camino Del Sur Crosswalk in Torrey Highlands Neighborhood

 
TORREY HIGHLANDS, CA (May 24, 2022) – A woman was seriously injured in a bicycle accident on Camino Del Sur in the Torrey Highlands neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:25 p.m. on May 18. According to the San Diego Police Department, the 57-year-old woman was riding her bicycle eastbound and crossing 13000 Camino Del Sur via the south crosswalk.
 
An 80-year-old driver in a Volvo XC90 SUV was exiting Highway 56. The driver then turned right onto Camino Del Sur and hit the bicyclist.
 
The bicyclist suffered a fractured pelvis and an L5 back fracture as a result of the crash.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
