Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 20 in Sutter County Kills 1 Driver

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (January 16, 2022) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 20 in Sutter County on Saturday morning.
 
On January 15, the 27-year-old Yuba City woman was driving east on Highway 20 and was descending the Sutter Bypass Bridge in dense fog. A second vehicle was traveling west on the highway at about 55 mph and was approaching the bridge.
 
For unknown reasons, the woman lost control of her vehicle and began to spin counterclockwise. The man driving the other vehicle turned to the left and the front side of his vehicle crashed into the passenger’s side of the woman’s vehicle.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was not injured.
 
Crews closed Highway 20 for about 90 minutes while they cleared the wreckage.
 
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
