Mother Dies after Struck by DUI Driver on West 83rd Street in South LA, 8-Year-Old Child in Crital Condition

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (November 26, 2023) – A woman was killed and two others were critically injured after a DUI crash on West 83rd Street in the South Los Angeles area Thursday afternoon on November 23.
 
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. just east of Western Avenue and several blocks south of Florence Avenue. According to the to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a vehicle was traveling southbound when it crashed into another car as it pulled out of a parking lot next to a liquor store.
 
The impact caused the first vehicle to run off the roadway and struck a group of people, including a mother and her 8-year-old daughter, near a bus stop.
 
The woman who was struck died at the scene. Her child was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the first vehicle was also critically injured. They were later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

This fatality is still under investigation.
