Woman Dies after Train Hits Car near Cattlemen Road in Monterey County

 
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (October 17, 2022) — A woman died when a train hit her truck near Cattlemen Road and Pine Valley Road on Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 53-year-old woman from Los Banos reportedly drove from a field onto the railroad tracks. Subsequently, an Amtrak train traveling southbound struck her Ford truck, sending her vehicle toward the east shoulder of Cattlemen Road.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and found her dead. Authorities have not released her name pending notification of family members.
 
At this time, investigators have ruled out alcohol as a possible explanation for this incident. However, an investigation into the details should confirm any ambiguous information.
