Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Pickup Truck on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 24, 2024) – A 30-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield Tuesday morning on January 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:03 a.m. at the intersection with Rudd Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was walking northbound outside of a crosswalk across the eastbound lanes of Rosedale Highway. At the same time, a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound at approximately 55-57 mph.
 
For unknown reasons, the woman walked across the highway from the south side of the road and directly into the truck’s path. The Silverado struck the pedestrian at approximately 55 mph.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Her identity was not immediately available.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck stayed on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
Drugs and/or alcohol do not seem to be factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.
