Woman Dies in Redding Pedestrian Accident near Highway 273

 
REDDING, CA (March 9, 2021) — A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident near Highway 273 and Girvan Road Thursday afternoon.
 
According to Redding Police, the fatal accident happened in Southwest Redding. For unknown reasons, a woman was walking along the tracks when a train began approaching her from behind.
 
Upon seeing her, the conductor tried blowing the train’s horn to warn her to get out of the way. However, the train subsequently struck the victim after she had failed to respond to the horn.
